I went with Liz to the Film Screening of Intimate Stranger on 9/25/09. Let’s be honest for a second… First off I was 1 of 4 people in a 400 person lecture hall watching this movie… it was probably the most boring movie I have ever seen… Everyone fell asleep and then we were forced into a Q&A session… Not something I would recommend…

I also thought the study abroad fair was organized and informative. However, I was a little bit disappointed with the limited amount of choices of places to go to study abroad as opposed to those of a larger school. However, i would still like to take the chance to apply for the program.

I went to the Film Screening of Intimate Stranger on Friday, September 25 from 3-4:30 pm. I watched the documentary of a very knowledgeable individual who went through events in his life that made him dedicate a film to connect his ideas and what he went through to other people through out. I found this movie to be pretty deep in beliefs and religion.

the Library workshop took place in the Library. One of the librarians was trying to teach students how to use the internet and search engines. Everything was so strange, since i’ve never been near a computer.. Anyway efficiency was key, he taught us how to browse through information in a practical manner. It was a very refreshing workshop that again, reassured me that i had yet to go to a meaningful workshop. 1

I attended the perspectives on immigration lecture by prof Rob Smith. The lecture was pretty interesting. He followed young Mexican immigrants that lived in America. He has come up with three theories. He predicted that the male Mexican immigrants would not progress in society. He also talked about the classification system he made which includes a classes such as the “dreamers” and “muddlers”. These concepts are part of a book he wrote.I think the concepts he presented where pretty interesting and the book is worth reading.I find it quite interesting how much time and effort he has put into these studies. We live amongst immigrants and many of us are from families where our parents are first class immigrants.

I went to the Challenge your Values-Let’s talk ethics workshop. It was interesting talking and seeing different opinions with other people in what they think is the right thing or wrong thing to do in certain situations. I thought it was very productive.
