On the September 14th I attended a Greek Learning workshop, expecting to learn about Greece, but it was entirely different, it was focused on the ideas of Fraternity and Sororities. The guest speaker at this event was Darren M Morton who talked about the different associsations involved with Frats and Sororities, he explained to the difference of NIC, NPC, NPHC and other associsations. Which was something new to me, I though that these
“Greek Letter Groups” were all self governed. Anyways another thing was extremely interesting was that Harvard College was the first to organize a “Greek Letter Group” in 1636. All of this knowledge that I have received made me consider the options of joining a frat, I’ll already been asked by some Frats. This workshop in itself was very informative but I would recommend that for it to less of an lecture style, but more of a Q and A style. If anyone wants to learn about the origins of these associsations should attend this workshop.
