“Meet the Greeks” Workshop

Today, September 15 2009, I attended the “Meet the Greeks” workshop. It was a very interesting workshop because it provided me with many information about all the different “Greek Letter Organizations”. Many of the sororities and fraternities that exist in Baruch were founded by men and women who were immigrants or considered minorities. From the information they talked about, they were able to show that this type of organizations are not only the “party” clubs that they are known to be, but all of them are part of community service events and support the commitment to school. Each president from each organization was the one who gave the speech about their fraternity/sorority, and from the way they recited it, they seemed to be very committed to their organization and to the people who are part of it. After the speeches were given, the students who attended the event were able to walk to the individual organization’s table and talked with its members privately.  Pizza and soda was  offered to everyone.
