I went to the Open House of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. This workshop telling about how to do people tax and how to apply for the application. I learned that we don’t need to have accounting experience, we can get tax training in January when we apply for this club and we have to take the test to prepare for the real volunteer. After finishing the job of V.I.T.A., you can get an IRS certificate. I have fun in this workshop because I met people and friend from the other learning communities classes. This workshop is good for me because I wanted to learn more about how to do taxes when I go for my major.
club fair
I went to the club fair on last Thursday in the afternoon. There were so many people. We waited in line for almost half hour to get in the GYM. But it was so amazing; I never thought about there could have so many clubs and originations in Baruch. I went to some of the clubs which I was interested, such as Hong Kong club and some other Chinese culture clubs. I would like to create a fencing club in my junior year since I couldn’t find it in this club fairs event. I might not have time to join that much clubs now, but I would love to join some of them if I could handle my school. I am sure we will have fun and meet many new friends in those clubs.
Club fair on last Thursday
On last Thursday, I went to the club fair which was such a big event in Baruch. Numerous people attended the event and made the auditorium too crowded. I remembered there was a very long queue right in front of the entry, so I had to wait for a while before entering into the auditorium. When I went inside there, many clubs had already opened their booths. Many club members from differnt kinds of clubs such as Japanese Culture Club and Asia Culture Exchange ardently promoted their own clubs . They issued flyers, food, and souvenirs so as to draw vistors, and they were so nice to tell about what their clubs were like. After walking around the whole auditorium, I went to the booths of my interested clubs and signed up for them as their perspective members. I thought that my interest clubs will hold some interesting events in the future, and I will meet more new friends in Baruch. It was such a pleasure to be in the club fair for me.
Club fair on thursday
Last week I went to the club fair om Thursday, Sep 24th. I was a little bit late to there and found out bunch of people were waiting outside. 15 minutes after, I supposed to get in. I first got a little matromap gift, which was so sweet. When I finally got in gymnasium, I was so excited to see many different types of club. This was the second biggest club fair I’ve ever seen. furthermore, i got more informations about bunch of clubs. i already joined two of them, i think i can join more next semester. at the end, i think that was a remarkable day, really helpful to enjoy baruch’s life.
SACC: General Study Tips
I went there on Tuesday, Sepetmeber 29th at 12: 30. There were only three sutdents, me, shao and another girl. We sat down and faced to DJ. Dolack. He asked us about the kinds of chanllege that we have already face in classes. He taught us some tips for listening, reading, writing and time management. There is a writing center on the 8th floor, so that you can there to get help. Space out your intake throughout the day. Its very important to organize your time. While you listening to the teacher, we need to take useful notes, not everything pro said or wrote on the borad. It is more important for us to understand the reading. The term calls “active reading”. We always should highlights, writing on the marigin and read quesitons before you start reading. They are very useful tips. The workshops is really amanzing and helpful.
Club Fair and SACC General Tips
I attended both of these workshops not knowing that the club fair was a workshop. I attended the workshop interesting in joining an Asian Union Club or something along those lines. With this club in goal, I was very disappointed to find there wasn’t present. After this me and several friends decided to an attempt to form one. We are still discussing this.
Today I attended the SACC general tips workshop and found this one quite interesting but nothing new to me. All the tips that were brought up are just basic study tactics that I have previously learned from SAT prep. Everything discussed in this workshop was on a personal level since there was only 3 students. What I enjoyed from this experience that some professors are quite nice and enjoyable.
Club Fair
I went to the Club Fair on Thursday the 24th. I was told that this will be the biggest club fair with approximately 170 clubs present. However, when I arrived at the gym at around 12:30, I was disappointed with what I saw. There were many stalls there, but a majority of them were empty or in the process of getting set up. Also, at a glance, it didn’t look like there were over 100 clubs there. I walked around the gym and visited the stalls that caught my attention. I circled the gym several times because I wanted more clubs to set up their stalls. I signed up at several places that caught my attention. Unfortunately, the gym started to crowd up with a lot of students. I was barely able to walk. I stayed near the DJ booth because I heard there was going to be a dance performance or dance battle. I stayed and saw a few dancers warming up. But then, when it came to the actual performance, there were technical problems with the music player. Because I had to leave, I couldn’t stay and watch the whole dance. Overall, I was disappointed with this club fair. But, one good this is that, I got to learn a bit more about the clubs I was interested in.
“Club Fair”
On September 24th, I went to the Club Fair that is supposed to be the biggest club fair of the year. I was very excited about meeting, learning, and joining the clubs. So, I went there exactly at 12:30pm and when I realized that more than a half of the room was empty, I was awfully disappointed. I waited about 10 to 15 minutes until the room was started to fill in with people. Then, I walked around the room with my friends, taking brochure and signing our names at the club tables we liked. I had to leave before the dance competition because of my personal reason, but it was fun and helpful day. It could have been better if it was prepared on time, but in general, it was satisfying. I can not wait for the club hours!
freshman reception workshop
I went to the freshman reception workshop last thursday september 17th after my calculus class. As soon as i got to the 5th floor i see people lining up in the hall way. it was so packed i could barely walked to the room. i was on the line waiting to get the file that they have prepared but they didnt have enough.. so i had to go back there on monday. I went to the one on monday and i got the folder that i didnt get last week. The folder contained lists of minors and majors we have in baruch, and credit information.
The Freshman Reception
I went to The Freshmen Reception- the enrichment workshop on September 17th at 5th floor, two reasons i chose this workshop:1. required, for the lc01 blog.2. Refreshments, the only workshop that servers refreshments in this week. Things didnt go well for me, first i forgot my student handbook, second i didnt get the information folder because thats for the first 200 students, third, they ran out of food, but they promised we will get them on Monday( they really should put up a sign”200 students only” so i dont have to waste so much time waiting in the line……………….)hopefully, i can get the folder by Money.
