freshmen reception workshop

I attended the “Freshmen Reception” workshop on Thursday, September 17, 2009. I was expecting one on one meeting with the advisor or presentation on some academic advisement. However, the advisors just signed our  books and dismissed us early because there were too many students attending this workshop. The rooms were overcrowded with nearly 2000 freshmen. I just picked up some useful handouts on the way out of the room. In conclusion, I was disappointed with this workshop. I hope that the next workshop will be better.

Freshmen Reception

I went to freshmen reception at center for Academic Advisement for the workshop on September 17. Actually, I had no idea about what I had to do at first and I even forget my planner at home. There was a lot of important information and we met our advisers there also. Except for a lot of people, it was a good workshop that I get some useful information about my courses and programs. I hope I will know the information in much more detail at the following semesters and the advisement center will provide me more help in the future.

The Freshman Reception

On September 17 I went to the enrichment workshop. As soon as I arrived to the 5th floor I saw a very long line and there were lots of people. So I decide to cut to the front. When I went to the front they asked for me to enter the ID number and after they gave me a folder with paper inside. Then they told me to go inside the office and they briefly explain about the papers inside the folder which was about minor and major. Also they discuss about the amount of credits and classes require for the BBA degree. Then when the advisor started signing the books everyone rush to the advisor.

Freshmen Reception

I went to the Freshmen Enrichment Workshop on September 17, hoping to gain more knowledge about the school. However, I didn’t expect there to be so many people, and neither did the advisers. Even though the room I was placed into had over fifty students, the adviser was still able to explain to us briefly about the majors and minors. She explained to us and also suggests to us that we should start completing the classes in each tiers, which leads us to declaring our minors. Although the meeting was brief, I now have a small understanding about when to declare my minor. The meeting was nice and short, although I did wish they would give us a bit more information.

The Freshman Reception

On Thursday, Sept.17,2009, I went to the center for academic advisement for the enrichment workshop which was hold on 5th floor. At first i hoped i could get some information to know clearly about the Courses, GPA or something else. But after waiting for a long time in the corridor, other students and i were called to another room because it was overcrowded. The advisors were too suprised to see so many students to join this workshop in this year. They apologized about it and told us the folder that contained the Academic  information would be given to us next monday. Soon they signed the handbook and the meeting was over. Nothing i learned from it. What a pity.

‘The Freshmen Reception-2009’

On September 17th, I went to ‘The Freshmen Reception‘ that was held in our Newman Vertical Campus 5th floor. I was expecting to get one-on-one time with an advisor; but instead, I was sent to another room with more than 50 people in it. The refreshment (that was promised) and the folder (which contains helpful information for the students, especially the freshmen) were not given to us. The advisors said they did not expect almost 2000 students coming to their workshop; because in the past years, usually no more than 200 students came. They apologized then briefly informed us about the advisement office. Soon after they signed our handbooks and dismissed us. I really hope on the next enrichment workshop, I can get more time with the people there.

freshmen reception

Sept 17,I went to the Freshman Reception in the Center for Academic Advisement.  So many people are there and i forgot to bring my handbook so i didn’t get the signature… For this workshop we can meet the Baruch College’s advisers there and get the folder for some information. In the folder it have the information about what major are offered at Baruch College and the courses that can register for the next semester also the number of credit that we should earn for the indented major. It’s a good workshop for student to get the information but the time is too short.. hope next one can be better!

Freshmen_Reception

Yesterday I went to the Freshmen Enrichment Workshop Open House of 2009 in Center for Academic Advisement. Within the place, I learn about the Tier 3 Minors , how to declaration them, the eligibility requirements for Majors in the Zicklin School of Business, and most importantly I learn how to computing the Grade Point Average … yet since the place is full of people, I still dont understand about the summer and winter courses, study abroad … maybe I should try the Brauch problem site. Overall, the Enrichment workshop was fun that I can meet new people, and understand more about Minors, and GPA.

Ps: Always can’t remember the password for the Dashboard …

Freshman Reception in the Center for Academic Advisement

I went to the Freshman Reception in the Center for Academic Advisement today. We met our college’s advisers there. But there were too much people, we were put in different rooms. None of us in our room got the folder which the advisers said we should get. I didn’t really know what the advisers was saying because the advisers kept  saying that all the information would be in the folder. And then we got our handbook signed and we left. I hope the next workshop will be better than this one.
