Mediating Conflicts Workshop

On October 29th, I attended Mediating Conflicts Workshop. First of all,  the office of Ombuds which helps students to solve conflicts with anyone in school was introduced to us. It was very important information for us because it is commonly to have conflicts with  other people, such as our peers, professors. During the workshop, we were devided into several groups to practice when the conflicts happen. Our group was luckily asked to present. We created a conflict between an freshman instructor and a student. And we solved the problem in a right way. The workshop was great.

Einstein’s Dream

On November 21st, I went to see a theatre play called Einstein’s Dream in school. Even though it was hard to understand and made me asleep, it was a successful work. The play fictionalizes Albert Einstein as a young scientist who is troubled by dreams as he works on his theory of reality in 1905. Each dream involves a conception of time. Some scenarios may involve exaggerations of true phenomena related to relativity, and some may be entirely fantastical.  The artists of Baruch did do a great job on this play.

Einstein’s Dream

On November 21st, at 2 PM, I went to see the play called Einstein’s Dream. This play was very particular on its originality. It  did not have a main plot, as I am used to seeing in many plays, rather it focused on a variety  of stories that portrayed Einstein’s work and goals. It had a lot of choreograph dancing, which allowed the play to be more interesting, even though at the same time, the play itself was a bit confusing. Attending Einstein’s Dream allowed me to see the variety of things Baruch has to offer. It is not a school just focused on things that have to do with business, rather it approaches a variety of things.

Einstein’s Dream

Einstein’s Dreams adapted by David Gardiner and Ralf Erik Remshardt from the novel by Alan Lightman, and it was directed by Brian Rhinehart. The show was presented on November 17 at 7:30 pm in Baruch performing Arts center – The Bernie West Theatre. When I walked into the theater, I was really surprised by their scenery. It was just way too simple. There was a black board on the upstage, a piece of white fabric or silk on the floor, and a few special rhombic lighting equipments hanging in the center of stage, that’s all. To be honest, I was a little disappointed, because I was expecting to see some settings that represent the time period of the play. Under the weak orange color that emitted by those special light bulbs, the whole scenery seems dreamy and would probably fade out in any minute . For me, the most impressive part of this play was that the entire company really worked as a unit to show the essence of the novel, because it was about Einstein’s three dreams which required each performers to act multiple characters. It’s definitely a tough job, but they overachieved what I was expecting. This is actually the first formal play I saw, which was very enjoyable. It got me into thinking the enigmatic time, and I have started getting interesting in theater. I can’t wait to see the next play!

Einstein’s Dream

I saw the play Einstein’s Dream on November 21st. This play is one unique play. It is based off on Einstein’s theory of relativity. This play is very different from all the plays I’ve seen because this play relies more on choreography and synchronization rather than a real developed story plot. The scenes in this play are all Einstein’s dream on time. Each dream is occurs in a different time period as well as a different scenario. This play was a bit confusing at times but was interesting nonetheless.

Einstein’s Dream

On November 21, 2009, I went to see a play called Einstein’s Dream. In this play, this main character just finished his work on “special theory of relativity,” and every night, he is dreaming about all the different places of the world with different time. What I mean by different time is, time operates differently: Sometimes, it goes backward, sometimes there is no time, only stopped moments, and sometimes people go through same time periods indefinitely but experiences other things. This play was little bit too complicated but can be very interesting play for people, especially the ones who know the theory of relativity.

Coloring up your future

I attended this workshop called “Coloring up your future.” Alfonzo Quiroz was our guest speaker who talked about his life as homosexual. He was interested in politics and did work in politics few years ago. He said, coming out to everyone wasn’t easy, because everyone started to talk about him even cursed at him. But he did mention, he was comfortable and did succeed in his career compare to those who hid their true identities. He encouraged us to never be ashamed of yourself, and always face obstacles courageously to over come them. He was very inspiring speaker who reminded us to be proud of ourselves and never give up.

Mediating Conflict and Resolving workshop

On November 12, I attended the mediating conflict and resolving workshop, which i founded quite intresting. The main discussion of this workshop is how to deal with the problems in Baruch. There are many students that attended this workshop. This workshop taught students how to deal with problems with other students or professor. In the workshop they also introduce the office of Ombuds which help students solve conflicts with other students and professor. This workshop was quite helpful and I think if I have any future conflict I will know where to go for help.

Internship and Goal Setting

I attended the Internship and Goal Setting working on November 10. This was a very useful workshop because I have considered applying for internships while I’m in college. At this workshop, they provided many information for us regarding the different type of internships offered for us. They also suggested us some companies we might want to apply internships for, of course, depending on what we will be majoring in. They also provided a booklet containing all the information they presented to us during the workshop. They also told us that we have to prepare a lot for internships, because we might work long term in the companies in the future. This workshop was really helpful and I enjoyed attending it.

Arts at Baruch: Einstein’s Dreams

On Tuesday, November 17, I went to the play Einstein’s Dreams at 7:30pm in Bernie West Theatre. This play is about Albert Einstein’s work. The work of Albert Einstein is doing the theory of relativity. The actors of this play were cool because they do different style of shape in different time periods. This play is interesting because actors keep changing the position very fast in different time and it is a small theatre to do the play. All the actors are Baruch students and they are excellent actors. This play is awesome because all the actors are very talented performance.
