I feel that the upcoming math test is going to be very hard. I understand the topic and everything but when there all these weird numbers I get confused sometimes and make small errors. I tried studying today during club hours and at home. I think I know everything and hopefully I am well prepared for tomorrow. I do not want to receive a bad grade in math because it is one of the requirements for the Zicklin School of Business
Career Planning: Basic Interviewing Workshop
This workshop was somewhat helpful and interesting. The speaker was enthusiastic about the topic and she tried her best to inform us even though there were students that did not seem to care. I saw people texting and there was even someone that slept through the entire workshop. The information could be very beneficial to getting a job or an internship in the future so people should pay attention if they are unaware of how to do well in an interview. Even though a lot of the information seemed repetitive to me I was able to gain some new knowledge. Everyone received a packet that contained all the information that was given in the workshop, which is really helpful. The packet goes more into depth about interviewing with tips, strategies, how to dress appropriately for an interview, sample questions, an outline of the interviewing process, list of words or verbs to use and samples of thank you letters.
next term
After two weeks ago when we had the helpful seminar thing telling us about registering for classes next term i realized that the deadline for applying for class is fast approaching. i think that it would be awesome if we all decided to take the English’s class together since we have to take the class anyway. i really like our English teacher and i just think that would be a really cool idea.
art midterm
today we received the grades that we got for the art midterm. i don’t know about you guys but i feel like the test was relavtivly hard. im not complaing about it casue i could have done ten times worse but i dont want my grade to be greatly negativly affected by doing poorly on one test so i guess that i have to step my game up for the final. Also i feel like the particular hard test was kinda evened out by the loose grading on the paper which was worth just as much as the test so in the end it all kinda works out all even steven
registration for spring semester
This semester already went by so fast. Spring semester is just around the corner. The last freshman seminar class was actually pretty useful. Signing up for classes doesn’t seem as hard as I thought it would be. For the most part I already know what classes I want. The whole thing is pretty overwhelming because there’s so many choices. It’s cool that we get to pick the classes we want and get to set up our own schedule. It makes me feel like I’m in control. I just hope I get all the classes I want.
art history midterm
i thought studying for an art history midterm would be quiet easy. after going through the first few powerpoints my opinion changed. there are quite a few slides and just a few paintings that we have to memorize. its a good thing taht jason gave us teh advice of start to study art history a few days in advance because the extra week makes all the difference. it would be impossible to study all the material for the midterm, the night before. the study aids and the powerpoints give a great deal of help. they outline exactly what we need to study for the test. hopefully by starting ealry i will be able to get all tha meterial down pat by the test.
advisement
the freshman seminar class this past week was very informative. between the video that we were required to watch and teh calss my understanding of how baruch works became much better. the adviser explained which of teh classes that the students had to take very well. the papers that were given out were very helpful. they laid out for us which classes were obligatory. i liked it how the adviser was open to every students individual needs rather than speaking to teh whole class as one. she accepted all questions and comments from all students at all times. this made the atmosphere of the session much lighter, adn sometimes we as students need a light atmosphere. i hope in the future baruch has these sessions to help all students with their classes nit just freshman.
Trip to the South Bronx
On October 10, I attended the Foundry Theatre performance of “The Provenance of Beauty.” The only way I can describe it, is that it was basically a bus tour of the Bronx with commentary. Sounds boring? Surprisingly it was not boring. It was very informative and interesting. The people that provided commentary were actually on the bus with you. I feel the point of the trip was to besides seeing something outside of what you see in your own neighborhood, but how capitalism can take over an area. It was kind of depressing hearing about people being kicked out of their homes so a park can be built instead believing that it would improve the neighborhood, but it just put more people onto the streets.
College Halfway Mark
I feel that we have already approached the halfway mark in this semester. I feel that time has flown by quickly and it still feels that I am in high school. The only difference is that we have more freedom and a little bit more work. Which is mostly the art midterm because we have to memorize a bunch of art works. On the other hand I feel that by going to Baruch for the last two months, have made me become more mature. This whole experience made me realize that I need to manage my time and take care of all my responsibilities.
my first workshop
I went to the Club Fair on 09/24/2009 and that was my first workshop. The location of the workshop was in gym. It started at 12:30PM and end at 2:00 PM. I went there with my two friends. I spent about one and half hour in there. The gym is not small, but there were so many people. There were many different kinds of clubs. Every club gave information and provided some food for us. Everyone was nice in there. They were both polite to help us and answered our questions. I think that workshop was funny. I filled out some forms to the clubs and I hoped to join some of them in the future.
