Bearcat: The Other Google Workshop

On Oct. 20 I went to the Bearcat: The Other Google workshop held in the library. The librarian told us that even though Google is a useful search engine, Baruch has an even more effective search engine to offer exclusively to its Baruch students. The librarian told us about the Bearcat Baruch databases and how it is based on reliable sources. He said the information that we get from using Google might not always be accurate or related to the topic that we were searching for. Then he taught us about the Baruch databases and how if we type in key words and select a subject that it falls into, we will get definite results. I can see myself using the Baruch databases in the future when I have research papers due. Overall I thought this workshop was helpful because I had never heard of the Baruch databases before and the workshop wasn’t crowded, making it easy for us to listen to the librarian explaining how to use the search engine.
