=[

On thursday I registered for a workshop for personal enrichment. It was supposed to begin at 12:50 and I arrived early, at 12:40. My friend and I were very disappointed to find out that we could not attend because it was full. I was upset because the workshop was being held in a very small room. It could have easily been held in a larger room possibly a lecture hall and then they wouldn’t have to turn down students who need the workshop. I don’t know what to do because I don’t see anymore personal enrichment workshops that are going to be held. =[

Impression Management

I attended this workshop a few weeks ago. The speaker was my favorite part of this workshop because he was very interesting and held my attention the entire time. He spoke about the important of a first impression. He gave us tips on how to create a positive first impression when it comes to speech, attire, posture and many others. I would recommend attending a workshop by STARR.

Values, Pressures, and Choosing a Major

Today I went to the Values, Pressures, and Choosing a Major Workshop. We talked about what we wanted out of life and what we needed to do to get there. We filled out two charts on our different goals in life and it showed us what we wanted in the future. The class discussed what we thought was important that should happen in our lives and the two guys in charge used many quotes during the presentation to represent what we felt. This workshop was an hour long and it wasn’t that bad. The two guys speaking during the workshop weren’t boring and they tried their best to keep everyone interested.

Career Planning; Basic Interviewing workshop

On Thursday, I attended the STARR Career Development Center’s workshop.  A representative discussed the “Do’s and Don’ts” for all interviews. She mentioned many important points for success. She informed us about appropriate dress, preparedness, and insights. She also specified where we can go to get help and what we need to do before/after the interview. I personally found this workshop very beneficial and I would highly recommend my peers to attend. I will consider visiting a similar workshop in the future.

Career Planning; Basic Interviewing workshop

I went to this workshop on thursday and it was very interesting. This workshop showed me how the STARR center could help me in my search for a job. It talked about how to dress, how to present yourself, and how to build a good resume. The person talking upfront was very clear and did a good job explaining to us why its important to think about our careers early so we could be prepared when we actually need to go look for one.

Art Gallery Tour

It pretty interesting. Showed abstract painting, full with colors and triangles. Went by groups of 16-20 so it wasnt so crowded.  Although the artist is now dead, her painting is worth more than 50k.

workshop

Today a few of us were planning to go to a workshop. We didnt have to sign up or anything because there was no indication of registering ahead of time. The website said the work shop starts at 1pm and ends at 2pm. So we headed to the room around 1245 and thinking that we were early, we were late. I dont know why they started way earlier than they were supposed to but they said the work shop was closed and we cant get in. So now im down a workshop and wasted my time waiting for it.  I just though it wasnt fair that we made the effort to go to one and waiting about 30 minutes for it but it started WAY ahead of time without telling anyone. But I guess it was partly our fault for not realizing that it was a non-registering workshop so we should have noticed that it was on a first come first serve basis. Ill know better next time and be better prepared.

Part time student

Today i withdrew from a class and realized afterwards that I was going to be taking in only 9 credits this semester. I was just wondering if this looked back on your transcript or effected you badly in anyway (besides losing scholarships)?

Thanks guys

Impression Management Workshop

I attended this workshop last week. The speaker talked about the importance of first impressions. He said people judge weather or not to hire you, give you a promotion, and your competence by looking at your appearance. Then he went on to describe how to act, one should be clear and loud-not shy or quiet. Mumbling is extremely bad. The workshop described how to make a stellar first impression. It was informative and helpful but a little too long.
