Last month I went to the art gallery to see the Mercedes Matters exhibition. While she was not extremely famous, as our tour guide informed us, she is still important to the art world. There were two paintings from when Mercedes was a child. There were then many still lifes when she began her training as an artist. As she grew older, her paintings began to become more abstract, morphing into a conglomeration of colors and lines rather than shapes, conveying the feel of a portrait rather than depicted in a realist fashion.
