College/Community Service

Hey everyone!

School has officiallystarted. I know for me personally, I’ve been bombarded with homework and reading for lecture and all the rest of the stuff. I remember last year I read the following bumper sticker.

I thought that I could have only picked one. I chose two out three. Personally, I feel like I have a lack of sleep trying to catch up with friends and school and everything, and I sleep on the weekend or try to if someone doesn’t wake me up with a text or a phone call. Trying to find that balance is hard. Last semester for me , I lost my good grades. The first semester it was balanced out. What do you think you might lose?

I saw that not everyone has responded to whether or not they may come to the Community Service event. I recently found out that coming to the event and participating fulfills your requirement for Community/ Global awareness. I will be the one to sign and see if you participated and then will look at your blogs to see what you experienced by attending this event. The details for this event are that it is on Sunday, October 4th 2009, in Pier 54, West 54th Street at the Hudson River, Manhattan, New York. The ride starts at 7:30 but we will give out the shirts at 6:30 a.m. We have to be there probably around 6:00 a.m. I need a count to make sure of the details of what time we have to be there to set up the station to hand the t-shirts.

This blog is for you to express your feelings. It can be as sports such as football, baseball, (well tennis season ended), it can be about school, a reflection of your day. I like blogging (if you can’t tell) because since I can’t see everyone of you face to face every week, then I can catch you up on events. This blog is important since your Freshman Seminar instructor and I have to evaluate if you participated in the course.

That is it for now. Please blog about how you feel about college so far or about anything that is on your mind (that will not require for me to shut it down.) Comment on whether or not you are coming to Community Service.

By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE FOLLOWING SEPTEMBER BABIES: Mike DiNoto(September 15), Mike Eng(September 16), and Ryan(September 24th).

**UPDATE** I just checked the website and we would have to volunteer from 5:30 a.m.-9 a.m. Hope you can make it!

Oh, I just saw that post. I think I will lose my social life, it’s almost gone anyway because I work. So I’m always out of my house every week. There is not day that I will have the time to sit back and relax except for on the train/bus on my way and from school.

  2. The Community Service is only one time. It was orginally just this and later on I found out it fulfills the reuiqrement for Global/Community awareness. You can fulful the requirement another way by attending the workshop but there won’t be another chance for community service.

Is there any other way to fullfill the Community Service requirement because that’s kind of too early for me.

  4. If I sign us up for the registration, it’ll be from 5:30- 9 a.m. I just checked the website.

question about the Community Service thing: I know you don’t know exactly until what time we will be there but like about what time do you think it will be?
