Follow-up

Thank you to those students who participated on voting which activity we will be participating on.  I saw on some of the comments below that some of you may have work. It is up to you if you want to take off work. This is not mandatory. The point of community service is to give back to the community and if you feel obligated to come to this event, then please do not come. I say this because I know some of you do not want to do this community service. The reason why I say this is because the other volunteers for this event (besides us) are there to volunteer for a reason. How are we as students not supposed to help out if we do not want to be there 100%? Please think about the people who are actually doing to Bike Ride for MS, if they do not think that we are there for the same reason then they will not feel supported. I know this because I have participated in an MS event before and the volunteers that are there are there because they are proud of the people who participated in the event. They probably did not do the event because of disabilities of because they felt like they could contribute on their part by helping out. On that note, please comment on this post to tell me whether or not you would like to participate. I am still not quite sure on what time it begins and what time it ends so please make sure that you will be free on that day and you do not have any prior commitments. The community service is also helpful so if you still don’t know each other well, we can talk and catch up. Another reason to do this event is because we will do it together as a group and not individually.

Another topic is that since none of you have your calendar/planner, I will post up the month’s events that is happening around Baruch from September 4th to September 25th.

  • This Friday September 4th, is the last day to drop any classes with a 75% refund. It is also the last day for any late registration.
  • This Monday, September 7th is Labor Day. Pleased be advised that the College will be closed. There is a rumor going around that next Tuesday, September 8 is following a Monday schedule. This is NOT true.
  • On September 10, Thursday, there are several events going on. One of them is the Big 4 Panel Presentation & Career Forum from 12 p.m. -2:30 p.m. This event is actually on Starr Search and you have to register for it, I believe. There is also a Women’s Volleyball game vs. SUNY Purchase, Main Gym, NVC B2 Level 7:00 p.m.
  • On Monday September 14 is the Last day to drop with 50% tuition refund
  • September 17th, Thursday, there is a Corporate Accounting Panel from 12:00- 2:30 pm. There is also a Women’s Volleyball Game against SUNY- Westbury in the Main Gym, NVC-B2Level 6:00 pm
  • From September 18, Friday to September 20, there are not classes
  • September 21st is the last day to drop with 25% tuition refund. It is also the last day to file pass/fail option (undergrads-WSAS)
  • September 22 is a Tuesday and it is the beginning of withdrawal grade (W); no refund. There is also a Women’s Volleyball game versus the College of Staten Island in the Main Gym, NVC-B2 Level at 6:00 p.m.
  • SEPTEMBER 24TH is the CLUB FAIR during club hours. This is where you get to meet most of the Baruch’s clubs and sign up. There will probably be a reminder in an email from Carl Aylman.
  • September 25th is a Friday and the last day to register for internship & independent study course. It is also Career Day, and I will be talking about that in our first Freshman Seminar Class.

Please also note that I did not cover all of the events. Some events will be said in an email from the Student Life Office. Please read those emails because they contain important information sometimes. Also near the Student Life Office on the second are forms to register to vote. If you have not registered to vote, please do so for this upcoming election. You can also check out: http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/studentaffairs/StudentLife/thisweek.htm

Please look on the side ————————————————————————————————–> to the Weekly Calendar for Freshman Seminar. I believe you can attend some events to fufill your requirement for the enrichment workshops. Click on details for more information.

Have a GREAT WEEKEND!

***UPDATE** Yes we are doing the distribution of the MVP t-shirts. I just need a count of how many students plan on coming no later than September 18 on Friday. The latest is telling me on the day that we eet for FM Seminar. No exceptions, ifs and or buts.
