My sixth blog (I’m at the top of the mountain now)
On October 22, I went to an Internship and Goal Setting workshop. It was held in the multipurpose room and I must say it was quite a turn out. After a while, they closed the doors Indefinitely because it was getting too crowded. I went to this workshop by myself and I’m glad that I did because it gave me a chance to sit down peacefully and absorb the material. The main focus of the workshop was; to educate students about what an internship is, the benefits of an internship, and the steps possible in acquiring an internship. Also, the speaker stressed the importance of an effective resume. If you have trouble creating your resume no need to fear the Starr Career Development Center is here. They will assist you in any problems that you may encounter. The best part is it’s free to all students, which is awesome. In addition, the speaker spoke about how to nail an interview and the key is be yourself and do a little bit of research about your prospective company. If you can manage to accomplish these tasks you will have certainly get the position. In addition, the best part is having options to work with. If you have more than one offer presented to you, you feel confident and in control which is excellent. Obtaining an internship is a great way to expose yourself to the work force. Without attending this workshop I would have gone off into my college years not knowing the importance an internship. I am truly grateful that I attended this workshop because of the valuable knowledge I’ve gained.
