On October 29th, I attended the Mediating Conflict and Resolving Disputes workshop held in the Vertical Campus on floor 3, room 190. At this workshop, the leaders helped relay information to us that may help us in case we are in a bind. These type of binds can develop through class problems, group problems, or problems that just come out of nowhere. The most important thing they told us to do was confront the issue peacefully and don’t let it linger. By confronting it right away, there would be a better chance of nipping the issue early, rather than have it escalate. When confronting this issue they told us to make sure we don’t go into it with a chip on our shoulder and feel like we have to get our point across and just leave it at that. We have to be ready to negotiate and accept that we may have done something wrong and that we should amend our mistakes. They told us to stay clear of things that may seem like trouble and have a great, peaceful time at Baruch College.
