I went to the Mercades Matter art gallery on 22nd street today. Sadly, I didn’t understand the art. I found it to look similar to first grade finger painting artwork. Her pieces really didn’t impress me. The pieces that were supposed to be fruit and tables just looked like smudges of random bright colors. I don’t really think that the students that took the tour with me appreciated it either. It was a very small gallery; not what I was expecting at all. I thought it was going to be a showcase for several different artists. I really wanted to enjoy this workshop, but I didn’t. Perhaps if I took an art class, or was just generally more into art, I would have had a better time.
