These enrichment workshops have been set up to challenge our students and to help them get out of their comfort zones. The message conveyed to students needs to be very clear on this. They have been given the autonomy to get to know the college in ways that we hope will keep them not only challenged, but also help them to develop some self management skills.
Certainly, there have been some hiccups in the past few weeks. But we are learning from this, and I am ask that we work together to challenge and develop our students to get the most out of their first year experience. Please stay for the ENTIRE Presentation. If there are too many Freshman, and you do not get a chance to get your passport signed, please blog about it and ONLY THEN will I sign it.
I want to also urge you to keep checking the blog calendar for last minute changes that might occur. There are some changes for this week that are reflected on the calendar that you should definitely review.

PricewaterhouseCoopers xTREME Tax Competition 2009
It’s that time of the year, again! Here is your chance to get great exposure to a major accounting firm.
Participation in the PwC xTREME competition will give you unique insights into practical and ethical dilemmas surrounding accounting and tax decisions, as well as valuable professional skills in critical thinking, decision-making, teamwork, communication and presentation (and build your resume at the same time!)
Teams of 5 students (2 sophomores, 1 junior, and 2 others including seniors or graduate students) work together to build a case on a business issue and to present their findings before a panel of PwC professionals.
You may form your own team or sign up individually and be assigned to a team!
Last year over 170 students applied to participate and 80 students were selected to compete (so apply early!). Awards ranged from $1,000 for a winning team and iPods for the 2nd place, to 4GB flash drives for each participant.
