Welcome to Club Fair 2009, as the DJs announced. Of course, it was my first club fair ever, seeing as I am only a freshman after all. Despite it being the first club fair however, I was prepared for the massive amount of students trying to squirm their way to the front of the line. I won’t say I didn’t skip to the front of the line myself, but even though I did, it still took more than 10 minutes to squeeze my way through the crowd as I watched my classmate, Frank, get pushed back. Well, I finally managed to swipe in, and got an awesome map while at it. After I got in, I had to wait like 10 more minutes with Stephanie because Frank had practically crowd surfed to the back. So after we got in, we walked around the gymnasium, looking at people advertising their clubs. I really wanted to find the Break-dance Club, and Frank wanted to join MMA, but sadly, we never saw either (Stephanie thought she was too cool to join clubs). We did see two empty tables for the Islamic clubs and wondered why the table was reserved if they weren’t going to come. Anyways, disappointed, we stood around and chatted while this polite lady handed out condoms. A while later, the DJs started doing shoutouts for everyone, and Frank joked about how the Chess Club would raise their hands if there was a shoutout to them. Well, the music started, representatives of certain dance clubs started dancing, then the music stopped. It started again, stopped, and the cycle repeated about 10 times before they got it right. Finally the dancers took the stage, and most of them seemed to pop, with some c-walk, and the occasional break-dance moves. I was expecting mostly break-dancing, but that was probably since the only major dance club back at high school was break-dance. Anyways the dancing was cool, and in my opinion, certainly the best part of Club Fair. Well all of us got bored when it came to ballroom dancing, and the music didn’t start, so the guys rapped and so we left(no offense, rap is still cool). So we wandered around for a while more, pondering where these people were getting the free cake; not Frank though (he was wondering if the cheer leading club had brown pom poms to bring out his eyes). Anyways, we figured we saw all the clubs, got our sheet signed, and left. All in all, the club fair was really nice, and its a shame that some of the better clubs weren’t there, but I look forward to next year’s.
This is actually an interesting post. To tell the truth, I was really looking forward to those pom poms. I just love cheerleading.
