This was probably one of the most organized workshops I’ve been to so far. Once I came to the room I found that I was a little late, but did eventually find a seat. There was the main speaker and her assistants to help her with the presentation. The assistants were handing out a packet of papers to follow with the presentation. There was a sign in sheet for everyone to sign and then they would call up row by row to go the the computer in the back of the room to register yourself. This workshop was very helpful because there were tips that can help me in the future when interviewing. The great part of the packet given out is that in some pages there are potential questions that should be studied in order to be better prepared. I liked it how there was a page where they listed the stores for where to get suits for both men and women. I don’t think that some of the places listed would fit a students budget, for example Banana Republic, Century 21, and Daffy’s. The clothing at these stores can get a little expensive. The only entertaining part of this workshop was when we had to give the person sitting next to us a brief personal pitch. Fortunate for me, I was sitting next to Nick. We had a good time with that and made the most of our minute long pitches. One of the most important things that I found out was that many companies do some research for potential employees. Part of their research goes through Facebook, which means that there shouldn’t be any picture on your profile that you wouldn’t want your employer to see at all. This workshop will definitely help me for when I’m starting to look for jobs, which will be very soon.
