Mediating Conflict & Resolving Disputes

One of the first things I did when I entered the room was grab a seat, and perhaps it was because I knew somehow that half the people there weren’t going to be registered for the workshop anyways. Well soon after, a lady walked in and introduced herself as a professional mediator. She did say that she belonged to a certain organization, but I don’t know how to spell it, so I won’t try. She talked to us about what happens if there is a conflict between students or students and professors, and how if there is a problem, she can solve it. After explaining the mediator’s job, she separated us into groups, where we each played different parts: mediator, student, and professor. The scenarios showed us how difficult it was to actually be in the mediator’s position, due to confidentiality issues, syllabus issues, but mainly the lack of humor. Basically, the workshop showed us what to do if we needed to solve conflicts, and that everyone can be a mediator, as long as they remain impartial, and maintain good judgement. Not to mention, there was a guy who was really nice (hot), and helped sign the workshop sheets. Apparently his name is Wook Kim, he’s the leader of LC-18, and his black hoop earring is on the right side (didn’t see his left). Information courtesy of several fangirls. Frank being one. Thank you Frank for all the unnecessary information. And Alan Wu who appears to suck up to him (Don’t know who you are, but if you’re buff, Frank’s the name).
