In the Coloring Up Your Future workshop we had a guest speaker, former councilman Alfonso Quiroz. He spoke to us about the issue of being an openly gay man while holding political power and how he has been able to deal with and get past it. He also discussed how being of mixed descent in the world of politics has been a challenge also. I really enjoyed his speech and took it all of the information he was giving. He left us with a word of advice which was no matter what, you should always be true to yourself and never let anyone try to keep you down.
