Internship and Goal Setting

On November 10th, I went to my last and, arguably, most useful workshop: Internship and Goal Setting.

I could tell it’d be a good workshop from the moment we had to line up in front of the doors, sign in through computers, and get in our seats in a very orderly and organized fashion. Neatness does count.

The speaker was a very approachable and kind lady (Internship Coordinator Theresa Conway), who told us all about the STARR Career Development Center, and how it would help us in the workforce — especially in getting internships that would ultimately prepare us for whatever field we wanted to go into. She told us about all the different kinds of internships we could get into: paid internships, internships for credit, unpaid internships; and even gave us other means in which we could find jobs and volunteer positions (such as idealist.org!).

Although it was a lot of information to take in, Conway was very open to speak to any confused members in person. It’s nice to know that she’s on our side and wants us to get the most out of our work experience before we actually get into our professional careers.

I’m looking forward to going into internships that would not only ready me for a career, but would show me what I’m really passionate about.
