On Tuesday I went to a gallery tour at Baruch’s art gallery on 22nd Street. One artist in particular, Mercedes Matter, had her art work hung up all across the entire gallery. The gallery set up her paintings chronologically from the time she was a child till her death a few years ago. She was a “modern” artist, and being that I am partial to classical art, I didn’t really appreciate her paintings. The tour was certainly very informative and did in fact force me to analyze Matter’s paintings, which is something I would never have done on my own.
