Club Fair

The club fair, in September was very interesting, and there were many clubs that Baruch had. It was very crowded, but there were many honors societies, cultural societies, and clubs. I want to join many of them like VITA, AIESC, and they offer many leadership opportunities such has TEAM Baruch.

Impression Management

On October 15, I had attended the Impression Management. It was very interesting, and I learned how to make an impression during an interview, and if you are making a speech during class. I also learned about the STARR Search that Baruch has to find internships and jobs. The lady was very interesting, and she made a good speech, she was not boring.

BearCat The other Google

Recently, I had attended the BearCat the other Google. It was very interesting and I had learned a lot from it also. I had learned how you can find so much information from the Baruch BearCat website, by just sitting at home. It is ironic that we had the same event for English. We also learned how quoting, writing and/or can affect what type of information you can get.

Bearcat: The Other Google

I attended the Bearcat: The Other Google Workshop, which is part of the academic enrichment area. The workshop was held on October 20th  from 1:30-2:00pm. The purpose of the workshop was to teach us about the databases that we could use from the Baruch website. This workshop was really helpful in the fact that it taught it gave us alternative websites to do research for our papers. The only problem was that we already learned all that during our English class that day so the information was a bit redundant, but other then that it was a pretty interesting workshop. I would definitely recommend this workshop to freshman’s because it teaches you about other research websites besides the ones you already know about.

Career Planning: Impression Management

I attended the Career Planning Impression Management Workshop, which is part of the career exploration area. The workshop was held October 13th from 12:50-2:20 pm. The purpose of the workshop was to make known to students what should and shouldn’t be done in a job interview. Also they wanted students to be familiarized with the Starr Career Development Center. This workshop was really helpful and helped us understand what you should do while you are in class and also what you should do in a future job interview. I would recommend this workshop to freshman’s because it is very useful and it also informs people about the Starr Career Development Center, which a lot of people don’t usually know about.

Impression Management

I attended the Impression Management workshop on Thursday, October 15, at 1230. The workshop was rather useful because it explained key characteristics that a person should have in the classroom and in an interview once we begin to look for internships, and soon after that, jobs. A lot of it included common sense but it was still important to go over simple key priorities in an interview just in case we happened to overlook them. The workshop advised us and explained how to make appointments for any future help we may need in finding internships or jobs through Baruch College.

Bearcat Workshop

I attended the the Bearcat workshop in the library, on October 20th at 1:30 p.m. This workshop explained how to use the databases for our research in our classes, which is a tool we’ll need over the next for years. About an hour prior to the workshop we had finished a similar activity with our English class which explained how to conduct research extremely thoroughly so I can’t say that this Bearcat workshop did a lot for me. I am still glad I went because the information was reiterated and it will be useful for me in the future.

Math and Me (not a good combo)

Ok heres the deal i had to blog about math. Well i was really good at math until like this year. I knew everything always and it came easy to me. Now i guess it was the great teachers i had. Yeah they were dope. However now thats not the case. In my current math class i have trouble understanding the teacher, and when i do understand what he is saying, i dont really comprehend. Nevertheless i stay on my grind and get that money. Meaning i seek additional exposure to the material. For instance i read my green calculus book because it actually EXPLAINS STUFF in plain english, well mathematical english to be exact. Yes this is my math and me, i hope you enjoyed it, please tune in to my other blogs. peaceY

Bearcat Workshop

I attended the bearcat:the other google workshop, and it is under the category of Academic Enrichment. I attended it on October 20th at 1:30 p.m. The workshop basically went over the structure of the databases offered by Baruch. It presented valuable databases in order to cite works needed for papers. It met my expectations, but the only problem was that we did go to the library before this workshop with our English class, and he discussed the same databases of Bearcat and we spoke about citing sources, both scholarly and popular. I would recommend it to another student who does not have a clear understanding of Bearcat’s databases. It is definitely valuable because instead of googling, or using wikipedia, we could find good sources on those databases that actually give us the ability to write a good paper.
