Academic Fair

I attended the Academic Enrichment Fair today and it was rather interesting. I got all the information I needed in order to hopefully study abroad next semester. I hope I can go to Italy for Spring 2011 Semester.

Art Gallery

I went to the Art exhibition today on the 22nd street building. It was rather interesting and a great cultural exhibition. The art featured was a bunch of photographs from an aerial view which things are scene from a much different perspective. I suggest everybody checks it out and it fulfills your art requirement.

Math and Me

From reading the posts others have made, you can tell that the math professor is the worst professor in the world isn’t the best. It’s not the material that’s difficult to understand, but the professor. I’ve never struggled with math in high school, and the fact that I am struggling now is a testament to how terrible a professor we have. Precalc shouldn’t be a difficult course, yet somehow our professor manages to get the entire class to resent him.

Math and Me

Precal is difficult. Except for the first two lessons, I leave class every day either slightly or extremely confused. The professor is a nice guy but he tends to speak way too fast. Even after he’s asked to slow down, he speeds up again in a matter of five minutes. To make sure I pass his quizzes and exams, I go to tutoring every chance I get. Tutoring turned out to be extremely useful. In order to improve this class, I think the professor should attempt to go slower and to explain concepts more thoroughly.

Math and Me

In high school, the last math I took was Math B. I feel behind most of the students in my class, because most of them have taken Pre-Calc and Calculus already. I feel as if i have to study harder and longer to keep up with the rest of the class. Moreover I have always been the type of student who learns material better on my own, but I feel that the professor flys through the material. I dont think that he explains the material very clearly, and whenever you ask him to slow down he never does. Sometimes I feel as if he does not even aknowledge our class, and just does the math problems for himself.

Math and Me

During the High School I have never had any problems with math. Granted, I never took precalc or regular calc as I was not able to aquire all the credits and regentes in order to take it in my school (Hate being transfrer student). But with precalc in college I have very hard time keeping up with the professor on some of the sections. What I found out that a lot of classmates have taken precalc before and for them the subject is not that difficult but for others who haven’t this seems a lot harder. For me math is very easy as long as I can understand the basic idea behind solving the problem. But with so little explanation I have to re-read the book and the notes in order to grasp what the section is actually asking me to do. For example the section on revenues was the hardest to me because I could not understand anything from the class for two reasons: We went trough it too fast, and the few examples that we got have not covered all of the information we had to learn. I know that this is actually the way math or other subjects are being taught in college. Professor doesn’t have to give you all the information on a plate, you yourself have to read, learn and understand it. But with my english still not being fully expanded I sometimes have trouble with all of the above mentioned.

And on off topic, I’m very sad. There will be a breakdance competition in NYC where all best Bboys from across the world are going to gather and duel it out, and the tickets for it have just been sold out today. Well they were sold out in first coupe of hours but I was unable to buy them due to me working. UGH. Please support poor me and give in your contributions so I can buy the ticket from someone for x3 the price. GLHF

Math and Me

I do not like my math class at all. I feel like the proffessor has no clue on what he’s talking about. He comes up with very different and confusing ways to solve problems which I do not understand. Half the times I do not even understand what hes trying to say. But other than that the material is easy.

Club Fair

I enjoyed going to this workshop. I learned about Baruch’s diverse culture by seeing all the clubs that are there for students to join. I also learned that there are various clubs for other activites. There were also clubs that could help students excel in other aspects of life such as clubs for business. However, I would like to attend other workshops that would be better and more entertaining.

Study Abroad Fair

This past Thursday afternoon, September 17, as soon as the Freshmen Reception and Ethics workshop concluded, I attended the Study Abroad Fair in the Multi-Purpose Room. This was an amazing event because I got some vital information regarding the school I would like to study at next year. Since my admission to Baruch, I always wanted to study abroad for a semester or two in Israel. Being that I’m Jewish, I feel a distinguished connection with Israel, my country, and studying there would be a once in a lifetime experience. I even spent this past summer in Israel, in the heart of Tel Aviv, where I had the time of my life, and was able to visit the school I was interested in studying at. This school, Tel Aviv University, is located in the middle of Tel Aviv, and is very similar to Baruch being that it is located in an industrial city. Tel Aviv University is ranked as one of the world’s top institutions, and provides an outstanding overseas program. The CUNY representative gave me some basic information about the school, and the requirements for the program. His assistance was very helpful and I am greatful that I attended this fair, because I needed that crucial information. After exiting the event, I felt satisfied with all the useful insights I was given, and I am looking forward to spending the next school year in my country, Israel.
