Club fair

The club fair was interesting and exciting. Alot of clubs got together to promote their clubs for new members. There was definitely a big variety of clubs to choose from but there were two that caught my eye in particular. They are Baruch city advertisement society and Latin ballroom group. As a very well organized event I definitely felt the school spirit.

Lets talk about ethics

The workshop was refreshing. It brought up examples of  dilemmas that people might face when making a decision. Over all there is no win win situation but our ethics come in to guide us in making the right decision even if it does not benefit us in any way.  By having us get up and pick a side of the room as a demonstration of our choice showed me that different people make different choices but that’s okey .

Internship Seminar

This was my favorite workshop so far. I’ve always been interested in learning more about the STARR Career Development Center, and what they do to help students. This was the perfect opportunity for me to learn just that. The presentation was very informative. The first presenter gave general information, such as how we can create our resumes and get them reviewed, do mock interviews, and gain opportunities through STARR search. She also explained the whole process of taking an internship course for credit.

There were three visitors from McGraw Hill who spoke about the different branches of their company, and the variety of internships that they have to offer. They also showed a short video to show how their interns enjoyed their experiences with them. Besides covering the basics of how their internships are, they also mentioned a few tips for writing a good resume, and dressing appropriately.

On the whole the presentation was very educational and informative. I like how the presenters gave advice on how to land an internship, and how to make the most out of it. The presenters were really a pleasure to listen to, and I learned a lot more than I expected to.

Club Fairizzzle

I went to the club fair with my friend the other week, and it was PACKED.
I already knew what clubs I was going for, and i was interested in 3 of them.
one of them is kccc, which is a christian fellowship club
and another is ccf, another christian fellowship club!
One of them is Korean, and the other is Chinese; i’m comfortable with all my asian broddas and sistas haha (and all others of course!)
I advertised for this Cancer Awareness Party, but I’m pretty sure I came on too strong when I was passing out flyers. I actually stayed for quite a while, and of course i had SWEEEET TEA!!
Loved how they had people drinking the tea advertise it by screaming “I LOVE SWEEET TEAAAA!”
Fun fun day, I got candy, and red velvet cake.

Ethics Workshop

I found this workshop extremely interesting and captivating. This is one workshop I had no quarrels with. The speaker was interesting and her use of hands-on activities got me not only listening to what she was saying but trying to actually understand the message of what it was she was saying. I would definitely attend a workshop held by her again.

**Club Fair**

I have to admit that the club fair was intense. There were a lot of people there, many more then I expected. I saw Latoya there wearing her PSE colors all pumped up advertising her fraternity. She handed me a leaflet on it. Kinda of a let down though comparing that a lot of the other tables were handing out CANDY. I…..LOVE…..CANDY. Its a fact of nature. Needless to say the other tables I visited all had something in common. They all were giving out free candy. That is kind of biast of me to limit the majority of my visits to tables with candy. But giving away free stuff  is a common way to get people interested in listening to what you have to say, and it worked. The school spirit in that gym was incredible and by the time I left I felt a part of it was in me.

{Club Fair}

The Club Fair was actually surprisingly..enjoyable, I thought it would just be people standing at their tables and looking bored. But the students all seemed really involved and enthusiastic about their clubs. It was cool to see all the clubs that Baruch had to offer all in one room, which made it a lot easier to get information about each individual club! The whole atmosphere of the club was very lively which made me feel more SCHOOL SPIRIT-IE lol.  Also,  a lot of clubs were giving away CANDY, but my favorite was the Thai ice tea 😀 haha.

Club Fair!!

This place was so crowded!!!! And so for a person who hates moving through crowds, I’m surprised I was still able to enjoy myself. I literally passed by every single table, and I was drawn to a lot of them, such as the Objectivism club, Taekwondo, emagazine and The Ticker. The fact that there were so many clubs made it a bit overwhelming, but regardless, it is still one of the things that I love about this school. The wide variety of clubs that were offered gives me a chance to consider many more options. I also liked that the event was very lively and positive, which gave gave it more of a ‘celebration’ feel.  All the posters and colors, the food, the music and the dancing, made this experience all the more interesting 🙂

‘Let’s talk about Ethics’ Workshop

Well, I enjoyed this workshop a lot. I especially liked how the speaker started off with a fun activity, where she gave us a few scenarios and asked us what we would do. It made me really think about my personal beliefs compared to what many people view as ‘moral’. I also liked the other activity where we were given two other scenarios, and we had to decide what would be the best, or ethical thing to do. It was a fun and active worksop, because we got to discuss all of these issues as a class, and we got to listen to many different opinions.

A New Day Within A New World

I had my first day of classes, just a few hours after all of you on Friday, August 28th. Although I’m not sure what it will hold. i am very excited about this class because It’s a class that I got to take in one of my particuular interests. Anthropology.

Each of you will get the opportunity to take either an Introductory Anthropology Sociology class. Take it seriously as with all of your other core requirements. You never know which one you will take to. I never dreamed about being an AAnthropology Minor before that class and now I wouldn’t replace it for any other.

But I want to know how your first day of class was. Was it exciting, boring, or a bit scary? Share your experiences =)
