USG: Undergraduate Student Government 11/10

Date: November 10th,2009 Time: 12:30-2:30 ROOM: 3165

This workshop was meant to show freshmen what being part of Baruch’s student government has to offer. The workshop talked about how many freshmen think that being part of college government is not important. They explained how being part of USG builds leadership skills and is also good when it comes time to applying for a job. The people who ran the workshop explained how our future employers are looking for leaders. They explained how being part of USG at Baruch not only helps you to become involved in the Baruch community, but will help you a lot in the long run. This workshop took me out of my comfort zone because until today, I never really considered running for student government. However, now I see that it is in fact a great way to get involved in the Baruch community. This workshop definitely took me out of my comfort zone because I never really considered leadership in a college setting. This workshop went above my expectations because it allowed me to broaden my horizons as a freshman. From this experience, I learned that getting involved in the Baruch community will help me in the short term while I am in college and also after I graduate.
