Database Survival!!!

Today I went to an Academic Enrichment workshop in the Library. During this session we were taught how to use the different databases that Baruch offers. I’ve used these databases once before, but I never knew which database was good for what and stuff like that. There’s apparently around 200 different databases and I remember I actually looked into a lot of them when I was trying to do research, not knowing which one was the best.

I think the best database he said we should use was the LexusNexus or NexisLexis? Can’t remember right now. However, I thought this workshop was actually really helpful! It was only 30 min long and I learned a lot about how I can conduct efficient research. There’s the options for full text and scholarly journals. There are ways where your choice of words will affect what results you get. It was just really awesome to have another site to go to when I need to do research instead of Google. I heart Google, but sometimes when I need something new, and I try Yahoo or whatever, they give me the same stuff.

Anyways, I hope everyone uses this search engine to their advantage! 🙂
