On Saturday October 31st i attended a program called Sikh Scouts which was sponsored by the United Sikh Association at Baruch. A bunch of Sikh boys and Girls took kids from our temple out to Queens Zoo and out to lunch after. Since this event took place on halloween, all the little kids as well as the mentors dressed up with their costumes and went trick o treatin throughout the zoo. The main purpose of this event was to show the younger the Sikh generation how to stand up for themselves and be proud of who they are and as well as their appearance. Every kid was placed with their own mentor who they could ask questions to and talk about their problems. Though the kids this year were young, they didn’t really get the main purpose, but all in all they enjoyed the day out! I really enjoyed participating in this event and am definitely looking forward to do it again next semester/year. !:)
