The first week was a little confusing but I think I am getting use to college. However, I am not enjoying the long breaks between classes. It gets really boring.
The first week of classes was okay. The professors were pretty nice but there’s just a lot of reading and assignments to do. One of the things I really like is the breaks we get which allows us to go out and eat unlike high school. Overall, it’s pretty good so far.
the first week of classes has been pretty slow. I havent been able to size up my professors, but they all see very cool. The best one thus far is clemente! 🙂
High School is nothing like college to me. High School was annoying, all the required work that came at Bronx Science was pointless. I am enjoying that in college you get as much out of it as you put into it. The homeworks are really only readings, papers are spaced out enough that with good time management it can feel minimal. Professors are ok, can feel dull at times but it’s school none the less, so it is expected. Overall the transition is smooth for now.
Hello, I feel that college is alright. One of the positives of Baruch College is the people; the majority of people I’ve met so far are much friendlier and mature than those in High School. One of the negatives is the size of the school. I feel that because there are so many students, It’s harder to adapt and really call Baruch a community. At the end of the week, we received a lot of reading assignments… which was a pain. And to be honest, I wasn’t able to complete some of them so I found that I will need to manage my time whereas in the past, everything was done and finished last minute. I hope I will learn to not procrastinate and to balance my schedule and my social life.
I agree with everyone who said that college seems like high school. Some of the class sizes are the same as my high school. Classes are fine so far. All the teachers are pretty decent and seems to know what they are talking about. So far, the transition from high school to college has gone smoothly.
i kinda like it because i only got three classes a day. its a much freer environment and you get to be more independent. some of the professors really suck but i guess i kinda expected that you had to do most of the learning yourself.
I agree with fruan and jgeorge that it does seem like its a high school. I’ve always imagined colleges as big lecture halls with 100~200 students, and professors being all old and sophisticated looking. But, it’s much more like a high school, with most of classes relatively small. One thing I like like hmui said, is break time. The schedule is very flexible and laid back, so you don’t really have to rush to go to classes or eat lunch quickly. Overall, I’m liking it so far. 🙂
If you did not take calculus before your gonna have a hard time with this professor. Every time he starts a problem he starts to wander of into some topic In algebra. Can someone please tell him to teach way I paid for. LOL
This first week was great. The thing I enjoy most is the break time. In high school, we have to stay in for the full time with no breaks and you have to either bring lunch or eat the gross cafeteria food. The commutes are a little long but luckily I’ve had someone to go to and from school with. I believe our block is blessed with decent profs so the workload isn’t too much and they seem nice. The only truly terrible thing is the overcrowding in the school. Other than that, I give 9 out of 10 for the first week.
To me, this seems a lot like high school. I already know a lot of people who go to Baruch so I’m pretty comfortable here. What I really like about college is that everyone’s extremely friendly. As for classes, I’m not a big fan of my math professor. I don’t understand anything he’s teaching to begin with and to confuse me even more, he messes up every problem he tries going over. The rest of my classes are fine. I just hope I manage my time well enough so that I can balance school, social life and sleep.
Well, you guys shouldn’t worry too much about the blocks. This is the only semester you will be in blocks. At the end of this semester you will choose your own classes.
As for me, I agree with jgeorge in regards to the blocks. I dont think college should force people to take certain classes if we are paying for the classes out of our own classes. Unfortunatly the blocks are something we cannot change so i have to get used to it. On the other hand, baruch has alot of social events going on almost everyday. I advise everyone to always stay at least an hour after classes are over thats when you will meet the most people. Overall I enjoy college (except for all the homework [:-(]
It has been pretty good! My professors seem nice and I’ve made friends! And it hasn’t been to hard adapting to college life but I do commute from Long Island so that is going to take some getting use to! And I also do have quite a bit of homework this week which I don’t like!
Well, for me, college is not like high school. There is a lot of reading and I’m not a big fan of it. But I do like that Baruch sort of pushes you out of your comfort zone because that’s where you can learn more about yourself, can change yourself for the better, and prepare yourself for your future.
College seems a lot like hig school because of these blocks. Having so many classes with the same people although is helpful because you only have to call a few people to find out what happened in all your classes; however, it feels like a step back in the social aspect. In highschool, I had classes with different people and was in some ways forced to become friends. But, with these blocks, it feels like Middle school all over again.
the transformation from high school to college student has been taking place, Trying to adapt to the college has been difficult but it will take some time to get to use to.

Good, I think. I still get lost when looking for my classrooms. But in general it hasn’t big like a big change from my high school years.
college is so much better. the transition was a bit hard. the first couple of days i was realy tired. i like my classes except music lol so boring

Was alright. Teachers are ok. Off-campus food is awesome. Favorite time of day=lunch time.

It was very different from my old school. I got lost the first day but later in the week i managed to find out where everything went.
