I went to this workshop today, and quite frankly, I did not find this workshop to be helpful or interesting.
The speaker had a condescending tone when she talked to us, and she was ineptĀ in explaining.
It seemed to me that she did not have enough knoledge about resume to fully explain it.
I would suggest going to the Starr center as well. I personally have 5 years experience on writing resumes and always get complimented on my resume so you can ask me for help if you want. Just make it sound professional and look appealing.
You should see the Star Career Development Scenter for more information.
I didn’t go to this workshop, but I don’t think you should see it as very unhelpful. One of the things I learned in my career exploration workshop, Internship and Goal Setting, is that in order for someone at the Starr Career Development Center, SCDC, to review your resume or cover letter, it is mandatory for freshmen and sophomores to have done a resume or cover letter workshop before meeting with a SCDC staff member. Although your workshop experience wasn’t great, you can now ask a SCDC staff member to review your resume and ask any other questions about the resume process that wasn’t clearly answered in the workshop.
