    “Statement of Intent”
I think that this song is significant enough to spend the rest of the semester working on because it portrays an idea that you can’t live your life out of fear for the worst. You need to take chances , even if the consequences are bad, in order to be happy with your life. I think this is a great message to send out to college students because we are starting and creating our adult life through the many decisions we make now. If we stay safe, we are just living by routine. It is boring. But if we take risks in life, we are allowing ourselves to be open to new opportunities in life that may better ourselves as a person, in our life, and make us happier than if we just lived to be breathing. For my paper, I want to show what being happy is according to the song. Through a close reading of the lyrics, I think I will have enough examples to show that happy means living according to the song. Also, I might want to add the movie Precious. This song has been used in the ads for Precious, therefore there must be a reason for the producers of the movie to want this song to represent the movie. As a music review, I would like to show that this song has a great message to all, but also how the song’s choice in words really make you pay attention to what the song says and gets the message across.
