Baruch College Life

I know the semester is not over yet, but it is coming to a close.  I just wanted to know everyone’s feelings on their first semester because very few of you will actually tell me in person.  How do you feel about this semester? Teachers? Peers? What do you think about splitting with our LC or are some of you indifferent? Personally, I enjoyed all of my classes and I feel very blessed to have had this specific LC.  Hopefully, we will have some classes together!

Hello!

Hi all, Thanks so much for welcoming me to your blog! I think it would be terrific if people began to post their artifacts and even segments of their drafts up here for peer review!

I also wanted to share this link to the Turing machines that Carr refers to with regards to what the Internet may or may not be doing to our attention spans…

Do you think man is becoming more and more machine?

Pursuing your passion.

Category: Career Exploration
Date/Time: 12:30-2:30
Description: In this workshop, we talked about different factors that we should consider in choosing our career.  Some include values, interests, and personality.  For values, we did an exercise where we rated what we value the most to the least (ex: Creativity, Economic Security, Leisure Time/Family Life, Earnings, Helping Others etc).  For personality, we were given a paper explaining the six general occupational themes: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional and each theme listed personalities that match with these type of jobs.

Mercedes Matter

I went to one of the art exhibits today and it was basically about how to appreciate abstract art for what it is. It was somewhat boring though, but thankfully it ended quick.

Impression Management

I went two weeks ago and honestly, they just spoke about everything I already knew. It was basically about how you should present yourself and they spoke about resumes and interviews. It was very basic and I was a part of In School Youth Employment Program (ISYEP) throughout my entire high school career so I’ve been to multiple classes like this. I personally didn’t learn anything new but the information is helpful to anybody who haven’t already been to any workshops like this.

Does anyone want to strike against the due date of this Soc midterm?…

It’s midterms week(s), and we got lots of stuff to do. I don’t know about y’all but I did talk to a few people, and none of them had even a third of the paper done. I was wondering if anybody was interested in the idea of…nobody attending the class on Tuesday o.o
