Well, since we got an extension for the English research paper, i can finally catch up on some sleep(still have to finish the anthro paper though). Anyways, I think people should post up the topic they’re doing for the research paper so we can help each other out, like share info/books, meet at the library for a discussion etc. It’ll be beneficial to all of us. I’m doing global warming.

Impression Management
On Thursday Nov. 5, I attended a workshop called Impression Management. Just as it sounds, Impression Management is all about managing your impression. The speaker went over several important factors we need to watch out for in managing our impression. He told us that the first impression is always the most important. Some of us may think, “But what if I made a bad first impression?” No need to worry. The speaker said that it’s always possible to disprove your first impression but it’s going to take a lot of work. The speaker also told us that the most important thing that students forget is that when you make a good first impression, you have to MAINTAIN that good first impression.
The most relevant point to you guys right now is to remember that there are people other than our LC mates reading our posts. Don’t post anything that may paint a negative image of yourself or another person!

How do you make a blog interesting?
Do you make it funny, interesting, or strange?
Do you write about your passion?
Do you keep it simple and clear?
Come on guys, I’m running out of cool ideas.
Gimme some 🙂

I NEED MOTIVATION
….badly
The promise of dismal future or semi-sweet babes just doesn’t cut it anymore. What I need is a clear cut vision of what I really want and the things I need to do to get there. Forget the conventional wisdom passed along from our parents : go to college, get a job, get married, etc. I want to be more than average, to have the freedom to do everything I want to do and not be like every other nobody.
Bob Dylan keeping it simple:
“A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do. ” -Bob Dylan

Alex, you were right
Anthro is a pain in the ass. It feels like the readings are unnecessarily obfuscated and abstract. At first I thought, hey there isn’t much work I have to submit. There maybe less graded work but the little graded work we get counts for a larger portion of our grade. I also thought that a take home test would be easier than an in-class essay, but it turns out it’s just as bad. The worst thing is I don’t know if I interpreted the readings right or wrong. Maybe I should arrange an appointment with Prof. Kanuga or the anthro specialists.

The next two weeks
Too much homework, too little time.
Mike Bloomberg is mayor.
Mike Bloomberg got his third term as mayor. My dad is pissed. What it means for him, is more parking tickets and stricter violation punishments. He feels like Mike Bloomberg is a “blood-sucker” who preys on blue collar workers who depend on driving commercial vehicles to work everyday. Throughout the years, he’s been hit with violations that threaten his earnings in his line of work.
I personally am not that involved in politics, but I know that many people are angry at Bloomberg for squeezing their wallets to try to fill the city’s deficit. I can see that people aren’t happy. What’s your view on Bloomberg?

Midterm miseries
Boy, are we caught in the throes of pre-Thanksgiving stress. It’s like the dam just broke and we are being hit with a wave after wave of mindnumbing, slightly challenging, and utterly confusing assignments as well as tests that determine a large portion of our grade. Well guys, this is the time where the nerds are separated from the slackers. Which side with you pick?
In either case only a couple of weeks stand between us and freedom. For the survivors, there will be peace … and boredom.
Here’s a quote from Arnold Schwarzenegger for good measure:
“The last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides the champion from someone else who is not a champion. That’s what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they’ll go through the pain no matter what happens.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger
Amusing, this is the same person who said :
“Milk is for babies. When you grow up you have to drink beer.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger
Signing off,
