Changing America – Sonia Sotomayor

On September 22nd, I attended a workshop with some friends. In this workshop there were three different speakers, all educating me with wonderful facts about Sonia Sotomayor, whom I hadn’t heard of before. I learned about the journey that led Ms. Sotomayor to be the first female Hispanic on the Supreme Court. She fought through many hardships, including sexism and racism, to be where she is today. She has made quite an impact on American history.

Sonia Sotomayor had to fight many obstacles during her college years. She attended Princeton University but at that time it was only the third year female students were accepted. It was only natural that many people, especially men, hadn’t accepted this new change. It was her determination and hard work that helped her through the years. She has a very tough personality but can also be very sweet and kind outside of work. She brought inspiration to all of us at the workshop; Even though others may put you down, just try your best to reach your goal and prove them wrong.
