On October 6th I attended a workshop at the Sidney Mishkin Gallery on the nature of landscape through photography. The majority of the photographs were taken by Marilyn Bridges. She is an amazing photographer, she is able to manipulate aspects like perspective, scale and texture to enhance the viewers experience of nature. It was my first time at the Gallery and although the tour was short, it was an enjoyable experience.
Ms. Bridges is also a licensed pilot and took many pictures from an aerial view. In this one picture she took a picture of the ground from her plane. We are able to make out a giant figure of a horse, which is fascinating because we don’t know exactly how it was formed. Without an aerial view, it would have been impossible for people on land to make such an accurate depiction of a horse. It was also said that it was made out of religiosity since it obviously wasn’t for those on ground level to see.
