Freshman Reception

On September 18th I attended my very first workshop in room 5-215 called Freshman Reception. Many attended this workshop thinking it was mandatory causing an overflow of freshman in the hallway, lining up to enter. The huge group was broken up and separated into different rooms. I was led to a lecture room and academic adviser Ms. Brown gave us important packets about Baruchs Tiers and the many programs the school offers. Much of what we learned was explained to us in L.U.C.Y., an online video created by Baruch.

Tier I and II includes all the core curriculum courses while Tier III includes a course at the 3000 level. Tier I is about communication and quantitative skills and includes the SimNet exam which tests our Excel abilities. Tier II is about Arts and Sciences. Ms. Brown mentioned how hard it is to get into a science class and we usually have to wait until senior year before taking science. I’ve already fulfilled my psychology requirement due to my score in the AP exam last year. Learning about Baruchs many different requirements encourages me to keep on top of all my credits and courses. I hope to have a successful experience here at Baruch college!
