I attended the internship/goal setting workshop on Thursday. Thank you William and Yu for telling me about it, and more thanks to Tony Chiu for telling them about it. Anyway, just like what the name suggests, this workshop talked about different types of internships, what to look for, how to get started, etc. We were given a booklet to keep in case we needed references in the future, such as how to go about writing a resume, how to find internships, our learning objectives (or what we want to get out from the internship), and the list goes on — it’s a really helpful booklet! I’ll probably use it often in the future. Wait on second thought, I better do a double take to make sure I didn’t misplace it hahah (joking joking! of course I wouldn’t lose it within a few days after I got it). Oh yea, and we were also recommended to utilize the Starr Career Development Center website in finding internships since we all have an account, although I’m not sure about mine since I’ve never logged on.
But in general, I thought this workshop was informative, though a bit long. Well, I guess it’s better to be more detailed and specific than to leave everyone to figure everything else by themselves. If I ever want someone to help/guide me in writing a resume, or give me a mock interview, I’ll be sure to keep the Starr Career Development Center in mind.
