- MEDIATING CONFLICT AND RESOLVING DISPUTES

- The workshop just told us that we could go to ombuds to resolve disputes. We got grouped up and acted out parts of ombud, complainer, and complainee. The workshop was supposed to help us avoid conflict and basically tell us that ombuds could help us solve our problems with people.
- I selected this workshop because I needed to fulfill my personal enrichment requirement. It did not take me out of my comfort zone. I have a pretty wide comfort zone so it’s hard for me to be uncomfortable. All I did was sit there and talk to my friends, an everyday thing.
- This workshop fell short of my expectations. The answer to the problem seemed to be talk to am ombud. I thought she would give us advice on how to deal with people problems yourself. I would recommend it to another student because it did inform us that we could go to an ombud for help. They can be especially useful in dealing with professors.
- I did not learn anything besides the fact that ombuds exist. I knew there would be something like this at college, I just didn’t think they would be called ombuds. I can not really take anything away from this experience because I doubt I will ever use this service. I like to handle people problems by myself.
