1) Gallery Tour
2) Arts at Baruch
3) 10/13/09 from 1pm-2pm
4) The workshop included walking around the gallery and looking at photographs of both students and professionals who donated there artwork to the gallery.
5) I selected this workshop because I am very interested in art. being a dancer myself, I enjoy watching other artists express their feelings and point of view of the world. Some pictures there were nude and that put me outside my comfort zone because it was weird seeing naked butts, for example, being portrayed as a deserts or mountains.
6) The Gallery Tour definitely met my expectations because I was extremely surprised at this small room that contained so much talent. All the photographs were very professional, and I could not tell which belonged to students and which belonged to professionals. I believe that all the artists and photographers are extremely talented and through the images that I saw, I could tell that they put a lot of work into their product.
7) I learned a lot from these photographs. People’s view of the world is so different. I am going to use the same example from above. Who would ever think that naked butts can look so much like mountains? When I saw that photograph I was extremely puzzled but pleasantly pleased. Overall, I believe the gallery inspired me to look at the world from different angles because there are so many colors and shapes that the common human eye does not see.
