1) Job Fair Preparation
2) Career Exploration
3) November 19, 2009, 12:30-2:30
4) The goal of the workshop was to prepare us for future job interviews.
5) I chose this workshop because it would prepare me for future job interviews and what i should work on. I did not feel that the workshop took me out of my comfort zone.
6) The workshop met my expectations. The workshop taught me everything i had and had not expected. I would recommend it to other students because i thought it was a very useful and beneficial workshop to attend.
7) The workshop taught me how to prepare for a job interview. The elevator speech was probably the most surprising because if it is good your chances at a job or promotion will increase greatly.
Career Exploration: Job Fair Preparation
Career Exploration- Job Fair
1. Job Fair Preparation
2. Career Exploration
3. 11/19/09, 12:30-2:00
4. The goal of this workshop was to inform us about the do’s and don’t’s of a job interview.
5. I originally chose this workshop because i needed something to fulfill the career exploration part of the curriculum. However, I also thought i might find this useful when I actually do a job interview.
6. This workshop was the best workshop ever. It was the most informative and honest one i have ever been to. The information they presented was great and the presenters were honest about what they did and how did they do it to get to where they are right now
7. I would recommend this workshop to everyone. It was very informative. When i first heard of this workshop, i thought it would be a workshop where the presenters would restate the obvious do’s and don’t’s of a job interview. However, they did more than that and even told us something called an elevator speech and how does an interviewer decipher a job applicant. This was the best workshop ever.
UNICEF Fundraiser
- UNICEF fundraiser/bake sale
- Community/Global Awareness
- November 17, 12:25-2:30
- We were raising money for a charity
- This was actually my first time participating in a fundraiser event. I felt as though I did something great, but I think it would have been much better if i simply gave you guys the 7 bucks instead of buying donuts and re-selling it for more. From this experience, i think i would definitely attend another fundraiser event, however i would probably volunteer to do something else than bring in food. I feel as though it is the same thing as giving away money. I think this experience would have been a lot more fun if it was only LC22 doing it. Interaction with the other learning community made it seem a bit awkward.
career fair preparation
1. Career Fair Preparation
2. Career Exploration
3. November 19, 12:30 – 2:30
4. this workshop help us out on what to do in the career fair
5. didnt really do anything there so i didnt feel uncomfortable
6. did not have any expectations because i didnt no what to expect. it was alright and i would recommend it.
7. i learned what is needed to be prepared to start a career. for example a resume and volunteer hours look good. rite now i wanna find time to do some volunteer work so i can have some more stuff to put on a resume.
UNICEF Fundraiser
1. UNICEF Fundraiser/ bake sale
2. Community/ Global Awareness
3. Nov 17: 12.30 – 2.30
4. The purpose of this workshop was to help raise money by selling the home-made or store-bought foods, such as cookies or brownies, for UNICEF.
5. I did this workshop because it was simple and it did not take a lot of my time. i feel like i didnt really do much anyway because all i had to do was bring in the crum cake that i said i was goin to bring in.
6.i hoped that we would sell almost all of the goods we brought in. it would help out the UNICEF cause.
7. if you think about it we made money and baruch didnt waste any money because we had to buy so what ever they sold was profit to them. i dont mind that at all because it was for a good cause.
Career Exploration Impressions
1) Career Exploration Impressions
2) Career Exploration
3. November 24, 12:50– 2:10
4. This workshop was intended to inform the audience about ways of impressing their peers, their professors, or important future employers.
5. I went to the workshop because I was interested to see what advice I would receive as to how to look in front of an enterviewer. I was put out of my comfort zone during an excercise where I had to speak and get to know a complete stranger.
6. I learned quit a lot about my appearance and I would definitly recommend this workshop to those who struggle with first impressions. Also, the worshop get the student out of their comfort zone so if you are shy, this workshop is wither not for you or extremely helpful to you.
7. Overall, the workshop was a sucess and a lot of people showed up. The presenter was very good and he remembered everyone’s name. The only thing I would suggest different is making it a little bit shorter.
Career Fair Preparation
1. Career Fair Preparation
2. Career Exploration
3. November 19, 12:30 – 2:30
4. This workshop was intended to prepare students for the career fair. Speakers informed us of the steps we had to go through for the fair.
5. Honestly, I only went to this workshop because I needed to fulfill my Career Exploration workshop requirement. I was not out of my comfort zone because I did not really do anything.
6. I did not have expectations of this workshop. I would recommend it, though, because I learned quite a bit.
7. I learned that I should pick up my pace in terms of building a professional image. I mean, I have a resume, but that’s really it. I might consider volunteering my time, once I feel settled in here of course.
UNICEF Fundraiser
1. UNICEF Fundraiser/ Bake Sale
2. Global-Community Awareness
3. Nov 17: 12.30 – 2.30
4. The purpose of this workshop was to help raise money by selling the home-made or store-bought treats that LC22 and the other LC brought in to raise money for UNICEF.
5. I did this workshop because the whole LC was doing it. It didn’t take me out of my comfort zone because all I did was make a poster. I still felt like I helped a bit though because I put time into making the poster, and it did not come out too shabby.
6. I didn’t have sky high expectations of this fundraiser because either Stefanie or the other LC instructor mentioned that bake sales in Baruch are messy.
7. I learned that even though a lot of the goods were wasted, Baruch does not waste money because the students bring in the food, so either way, the money taken in all goes to UNICEF.
Gallery Tour
1. Gallery Tour: Mercedes Matter
2.Arts At Baruch
3. Nov 3, 1-2 pm
4. This workshop was basically walking around the Mishkin gallery looking at paintings that Mercedes Matter created over her lifetime.
5. I selected this workshop because I was interested to see what kind of art Baruch finds worth its time. This workshop took me outside of my comfort zone because I am not too comfortable knowing that somebody could have so much success making something a 3 year old with a fondness of triangles can.
6.This did not meet my expecations because I was expecting art that was slightly more sophisticated than simple shapes and an overdose of color.
7.I did not really learn anything because it was very hard to hear the curator on account of her low voice and large amount of students.
Bake Sale
1. Bake Sale
2. Global Awareness
3. Nov 17, 12.30-2.30
4. This workshop was to help raise money for unicef by selling baked goods that our LC either made or purchased.
5. I did this workshop because it was an LC activity. I bought plates & napkins. It did not take me outside of my comfort zone, but it did feel nice to help out a little.
6.I did not really have any expectations except to help my LC out a little bit by bringing something useful to the table.
7. I learned that at bake sales (specifically at Baruch), there is typically a lot of food left over becuase everyone brings the same items.
