I’m a Freshman in Baruch College right now who’s exploring future career options. I’m a determined and optimistic student, setting personal goals for success in my academic studies. College is making me more independent and decisive in every aspect of my life. My first year will make me much more responsible, hard-working and sociable to my classmates. I have three concerns about my freshman year. One is learning how to balance my job(s) and social life with my homework and assignments. Another is trying to get into Baruch Honors because based on my H.S. grades and SAT, I feel that I should’ve gotten in. A third concern is figuring out which classes to take next semster, but I believe that the Academic Advisement center can help me out.

Again for some reason I wasn’t invited to the chat. Sorry Manny for commenting on your blog. I am Joe Mann, I am confident, and never tentative about decisions I make. When i want something I will run over anything in way to get it. One concern I have, and this is no disrespect to Mi Ji or Alex, I feel as freshmen orientation is a waste of time, and thats just my opinion everyone could disagree. However I feel as though free writes serve no purpose and I’m just writing things that make no sense and have no use what so ever. I thought coming to this school i would see something interesting in my first semester, I thought I would see and learn new things, especially about business, and instead I feel like I’ve learned nothing new so far except for philosophy which is an exceptional class. I feel like its the only class that brings something new to the table and is a class that makes me feel as though Im in college. Freshmen orientation is good for some students but i feel it should be an optional class, the students should be able to pick what they want to learn. I honestly don’t like the block system at all. why are we forced to take classes like sociology where Im learning nothing new, or how about communications, the only thing I heard in that class is making eye contact I know that already!!!
