Manny Haber – Blog #2 (monologue)

Hey guys, I’m Manny Haber and I’m a freshman in Baruch College. I was born and raised in Brooklyn. I carry the load in my family as the oldest of three children and therefore I’m usually the scapegoat for everything that goes wrong around the house. I’m a determined and optimistic student, always striving for success and setting personal goals for myself. I also a very skeptical person as I tend to think things over a lot. This is sometimes a bad trait because if I was ever in an awkward or embarrassing situation, it would play over and over in my head like a broken record. But generally, it’s a good characteristic because I can make decisions very carefully, by weighing the pros and cons. I was a member of the hockey team in high school, but I enjoy playing other sports as well. My favorite TV shows include Jersey Shore, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm and SportsCenter. I see college as a new chapter in my life. It symbolizes responsibility, independence and academic achievement to me. The long commute to school everyday is worth it because I learn new information everyday. It has been easy for me adjust thus far, given all the friends I’ve made so far and the help and guidance I’ve received from students who have been through the system here. Currently, I am an undecided major, but I may land along the lines of finance or accounting.
