I’m Simon Yousoufov. It is your pleasure to meet me. I’m an avid procrastinator, but I definitely did not procrastinate writing this monologue. I enjoy long walks on the beach, writing monologues, and sleeping. I do not like green eggs and ham. If there is one thing I would want to have done before I died, it would be to sleep in a waterbed.
One of the things I appreciate is having time to myself to think. Having to do any sort of work accomplishes the opposite of this. I do not like doing work. I would much rather lay in my bed, with my headphones on, and listen to music and just think about whatever comes to mind. Disrupting my Simon-time is actually classified as a federal offense.
One thing that I severely dislike is when people ask me to “describe myself in one sentence” I wouldn’t even be able to list my orgy of nationalities in one sentence, much less describe my personality and what I like to do.
My personal motto is “If Dr. Seuss said it, it must be true.” And what Dr. Seuss said was “Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple. Also, don’t date schizophrenics.” This is my favorite quote of his because I have a tendency to greatly over-think things. Though I’ve started being more aware of when I do this.
So far, I’m enjoying my time here at Baruch, and my liver is holding up pretty well, too. It’s a nice change of pace from high school, and I definitely don’t feel like I’m in a prison anymore. I like that there is a lot more responsibility on myself to do well than there was in high school. I would rather learn to not be largely dependent on a teacher, who may or may not be bad, to learn about a subject that I’m interested in.
What I am finding challenging right now is managing my time more efficiently. I’m naturally disorganized and am usually too lazy to put things back in the right place so I spend a lot of unnecessary time looking for things. It also gives me an excuse to procrastinate and is something that I’m trying to work on.
