My name is Robert Ali and I’m a freshman attending Baruch College. I was born in Bethpage, NY but was raised in Commack, Long Island. Back in the days of elementary school, my classmates would always ask me if I was related to Muhammad Ali, the famous boxer. It wasn’t till later years that I realized I’m actually related to a Muhammed Ali (my uncle), but not THE Muhammed Ali. My name was used as another reference in high school; my track caoch would always call me ‘Prince Ali’ referencing Disney’s, “Aladdin”. My hobbies consist of physical fitness, music, and learning new languages. I am especially adamant about learning new languages because I think to have the ability to be able to go anywhere and be able to speak to anyone is incredible; it gives me a feeling of accomplishment to master a new language. Currently, I speak english (obviously), a lot of spanish, and I’m working on German. My experience insofar at Baruch is pretty good. There are some professors that I think are a little “iffy” but the majority of the school is extremely pleasing. One thing I think the school can work on is organization. For a business school, its financial sectors should be a tad more organized in terms of scholarships and financial transactions. Other than that, my prospects for the future are bright and I hope to do very well during my time here.
