So far the Baruch experience has lived up to most of my expectations. The opportunities are definitely endless and I’ll be sure to take more advantage of them in the next semester of my freshman year. The staff and classes are good and relatively easy; it does not seem to be more difficult than high school. I like the fact that everything is on you because it gives me a greater sense of responsibility. However, I do not like that some of the professors can be careless in their teaching methods and as a student, I must cope with them and change myself to meet their standards. I believe my first semester went pretty well. I am receiving acceptable grades and I am getting accustomed to college life. I have successfully created a schedule that allows for both mental and physical workouts and improvement. I also feel that I have grown as a person. If I could change anything about the way I handled my first semester it would be my procrastination. This goes in hand with both assignments and overall studying. I have definitely improved from high school but my system can still be made better for the next semester. I believe I have changed socially and academically during my first semester. I am open to new ideas and thoughts and am more successful in making new experiences more welcoming. I have also revolutionized my academic style of learning and it has significantly helped me improve since my high school days.

1st semester
This first semester has been pretty chilled for me. I was a little nervous going in as a lot was expected of me to set high academic goals, but I feel I have done my job well until now. My professors were good and did not give that much work. I learned how to manage my time more and be less procrastinating. For next semester I planned my classes very strategically and made each day manageable. In college you need common sense, but as we pointed out last class that common sense is Not common in such a competitive atmosphere, and this class has really helped me adjust to college life

Hey guys, I’m Manny Haber and I’m a freshman in Baruch College. I was born and raised in Brooklyn. I carry the load in my family as the oldest of three children and therefore I’m usually the scapegoat for everything that goes wrong around the house. I’m a determined and optimistic student, always striving for success and setting personal goals for myself. I also a very skeptical person as I tend to think things over a lot. This is sometimes a bad trait because if I was ever in an awkward or embarrassing situation, it would play over and over in my head like a broken record. But generally, it’s a good characteristic because I can make decisions very carefully, by weighing the pros and cons. I was a member of the hockey team in high school, but I enjoy playing other sports as well. My favorite TV shows include Jersey Shore, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm and SportsCenter. I see college as a new chapter in my life. It symbolizes responsibility, independence and academic achievement to me. The long commute to school everyday is worth it because I learn new information everyday. It has been easy for me adjust thus far, given all the friends I’ve made so far and the help and guidance I’ve received from students who have been through the system here. Currently, I am an undecided major, but I may land along the lines of finance or accounting.

I’m a Freshman in Baruch College right now who’s exploring future career options. I’m a determined and optimistic student, setting personal goals for success in my academic studies. College is making me more independent and decisive in every aspect of my life. My first year will make me much more responsible, hard-working and sociable to my classmates. I have three concerns about my freshman year. One is learning how to balance my job(s) and social life with my homework and assignments. Another is trying to get into Baruch Honors because based on my H.S. grades and SAT, I feel that I should’ve gotten in. A third concern is figuring out which classes to take next semster, but I believe that the Academic Advisement center can help me out.
Manny Haber Intro Post
My first semester at Baruch has gone pretty well so far. I can tell already which classes are going to be a breeze and which are going to be a burden. At first, I felt intimidated by the load of work, larger class sizes and new classmates, but I realized that if my put in all my effort, everything will work out just fine. Freshman Seminar has been a very motivating experience for me so far, and I want to thank Alex and Mi Ji for helping me make my adjustment to college an exciting one.
