My name is Robert Ali and I’m a freshman attending Baruch College. I was born in Bethpage, NY but was raised in Commack, Long Island. Back in the days of elementary school, my classmates would always ask me if I was related to Muhammad Ali, the famous boxer. It wasn’t till later years that I realized I’m actually related to a Muhammed Ali (my uncle), but not THE Muhammed Ali. My name was used as another reference in high school; my track caoch would always call me ‘Prince Ali’ referencing Disney’s, “Aladdin”. My hobbies consist of physical fitness, music, and learning new languages. I am especially adamant about learning new languages because I think to have the ability to be able to go anywhere and be able to speak to anyone is incredible; it gives me a feeling of accomplishment to master a new language. Currently, I speak english (obviously), a lot of spanish, and I’m working on German. My experience insofar at Baruch is pretty good. There are some professors that I think are a little “iffy” but the majority of the school is extremely pleasing. One thing I think the school can work on is organization. For a business school, its financial sectors should be a tad more organized in terms of scholarships and financial transactions. Other than that, my prospects for the future are bright and I hope to do very well during my time here.

Robert Ali – Blog 1
Who do I think I am? Well, for starters, my name is Robert Ali and I’m a freshman at Baruch College with a vague idea of what I want to do “when I grow up”. I am a brother to two younger sisters, an aspiring athlete, and ulitmately a student of higher education for probably the next five years of my life. After that, the road seems hard to predict. Hopefully, by the end of this year I will be a person ready to tackle all the challenges I currently face throughout business oriented activities and events (e.g. speeches in front of large audiences and motivating myself to crack down on the books a little harder). In short, I hope to be more business savy, develop charisma, and tackle two new languages: all things I belive to be helpful for my future as a business leader in America. I also wish to finish all my prerequisite classes by the end of this year (I will be taking summer classes to increase my total credit count) and ultimately graduate in 3 years. The only concerns I really have are discovering ways to go beyond the classroom to therefore benefit myself in it, dealing with … uncertain professors, and retaining as much information as quickly and efficiently as possible. I know this year will be a good one; it feels like it’s already off to a good start. Suprisingly, the homework load is not as bad as I anticipated. I study for 30 hours each week and keep myself monitored on a calendar I keep at home. These hours include both homework and extra study. In addition to the 30 hours of study each week I’ve alloted 2 hours each day for working out with 8 hours of sleep each day. Unfortunately, I’ll have to rearrange my hours after this semester (another concern) but I plan to keep the same basic principles throughout my years here at Baruch.
A Taste Of Baruch College
So far Baruch seems to be meeting its standards as a diversecommunity and center of higher learning. The classes aren’t too bad; as long as all the reading is done, the information dicussed in class is easily understanable. Although I am enjoying the classes I am currently enrolled in, I look forward to next semester, when I can choose my own courses freely. Most of my professors are good, and there hasn’t been any hastle with assignments. I am currently looking into clubs and athletics, and will hopefully become a member of one soon.
