New blog theme

How do you guys like the new look acquired by our blog? It reminds of twitter- although I don’t use that site, I still think it’s cute :]

The semester so far is going well. The classes give a reasonable amount of work and other than the few teachers who can tend to be a little dull they are interesting. There are lots of cool and interesting people who I have met and have yet to meet so that’s something I’m looking forward to. I also hope that as the semester goes on I’ll manage starting research assignments earlier and that I’ll participate in a couple clubs including the tennis team.

Warren Cheng Intro Post

So far my college experience has been a little hectic, between having to deal with transferring credits to constantly losing my schedule, I’ve been able to make due. I realized during that confusion how much work one has to make up for missing even a single class. Because of the constant rescheduling, I missed the first class for most of the classes on my schedule and there was so much work to catch up on. I’m still a little behind but I  should be on schedule again in a day or so. My expectations for school are pretty simple, just meet new people, maybe learn a thing or two and ultimately just to have an enjoyable college experience.

okay, we’ll call it intro

Once I had a blog. Kind of online diary. But then I moved to NY and haven’t posted there ever since…now I can write here. But maybe I’ll continue that blog someday as I miss it.

So here I should write about my impressions and thoughts, right? Let’s start then. For me this all is not like for the other guys. Because they changed the school and I changed my life. Everything is new for me: starting with subway and…I don’t see where it ends))

Have you ever learned foreign  language? To that level where you can write, understand, communicate and learn. Now imagine that you moved to the country where it is spoken. But anyway, it’s not about language. It’s all about finding yourself in this huge world of opportunities and requirements.

I think it’s good that we can see everyone’s posts. You can look into the inside world of who sits near you.

What do I expect? Friends. Of course, I want to do good academically. But how can a person be alone? So I want to use my every opportunity of talking, hanging out, making friends. Although I can’t call myself a very opened person.

Hope everything will be okay. By the way, I’m an optimist. But it takes time to get okay, doesn’t it?

p.s. I think I personalized it too much…

At first I thought college is going to be ground breaking and the changes will come down hard, but so far my experience at Baruch has been pleasant. The instructors and professors have been very patience with us freshmen. I haven’t really been talking/socializing, so that’s one thing I expect to change in the near future. In my head I’m still processing that I’m back in school, and not only that I’m in college. I expecting in the near future that I will stop slacking and really start absorbing the college experience and i hope to learn a lot. Yes, I’m kind of a slacker but things will change once I the time management down.

Manny Haber Intro Post

My first semester at Baruch has gone pretty well so far. I can tell already which classes are going to be a breeze and which are going to be a burden. At first, I felt intimidated by the load of work,  larger class sizes and new classmates, but I realized that if my put in all my effort, everything will work out just fine. Freshman Seminar has been a very motivating experience for me so far, and I want to thank Alex and Mi Ji for helping me make my adjustment to college an exciting one.

My semester so far is going very well. I made great friends and i never expected only few classes. i thought it was going to be high school all over again; i thought wrong. i can’t wait for the club fair because i already have an idea of what club i want to join. i expect this semester to swing right by me. every semester is a few months and towards the end of the semester, things are going to fly by. i do expect to do well in every class( like everyone else). i also expect to make new friends and definitely find where i belong.

My Baruch experience has been nothing less than hectic. Originally from Queens, going to school in New York City is quite different. New buildings, new faces, new subway routes are part of my everyday life now. I am already adjusting to the workload and large size of the school which was overwhelming at first. I can already tell my classes will be manageable yet challenging. I am expecting to meet more great people as well as broaden my academic interests and learn new skills that will help me in the corporate world and on a personal level. Baruch also has a reputable Career Center that I will definitely be making use of to find internships and jobs. I’m sure my time at Baruch will prove more than valuable.

Katherine Carol, Intro Post

Coming to Baruch, I was expecting a couple of things — lengthy commutes, confusion getting to and from classes, trouble making few friends right off the bat because of the commutes and confusion. It seems as though exactly this has come from my first days at Baruch. Some things that I am surprised by? As obvious and ridiculous as it may sound, the fact that it’s a business school. When I was looking into schools, I looked at Baruch as a final resort since I am 99.7% sure I’m going to become a liberal arts major — the speakers at all of the Freshman Information Sessions kept pushing the fact that it wasn’t just a business school, and that their trying to dispose of this stigma — but almost every class I’ve sat in, I’ve heard the words “I know most of you are going into business …”. I kind of feel like a square peg being forced into a roundhole. I don’t know how I feel about that yet.

I hope that the school proves to be liberal enough — although I knew coming in, I’d be dealing with a business-centric school, I’d heard a lot about Baruch’s commitment to making you as cultured, academically, as possible. I hope that this stands true.
