V’s Monologue

I Can’t Stand…

The screeching sound of chalk

people in hallways stop to talk

pedestrians halt and don’t walk.

Monstrous wind, the umbrella folding over

Eric breathing down my neck, he likes to hover

crap on a library book cover.

People writing on my possessions

boy band obsessions

Gaon test corrections.

Guys wear their pants mad low

mosquito got me between the toe

18 i cease to grow.

Telling my brother to wash his hand

in the summer I’m scorched and tanned

These are things I cannot stand.

  1. First off, Vivian…I must tell you that when you read your monologue aloud in class that day, I was blown away!! It sounded amazing. Even the quietest student has the most amazing “voice” when need be.

You too should try and take a poetry class at Baruch when you are an upper sophomore. This piece is filled with so much! You have potential.

And I love the drawings underneath!! Explain?

Excellent monologue (ya got flair!!) Keep blogging and feel free to comment on other posts.

  2. Vivian, this poem is great. I think it was very powerful, and it grabbed my attention right away, and i think many people can compare to some of the things you can’t stand.
