PERFORMING DIASPORAS: IDENTITIES IN MOTION project is “Who Do You Think You Are?”
by victor.zhang
A. Hi! My name is Victor Zhang. I’m an American born Chinese. I was born in New York and then moved to Connecticut. I grew up there for 11 years until my parents decided to move out to here, the big apple, where opportunities are everywhere. I think I’m a nice guy? Well I treat everyone with respect because I would want them to treat me the same level of respect as i treat them. I hate giving up on things, I always try to achieve anything that’s possible. I would always try my hardest on anything that comes my way.
B. My top 3 concerns about my freshmen year at Baruch College would be:
1) One of my top concerns about Baruch College is that, “is business really my major I want to take?” That’s one of my biggest concern because I don’t want to keep changing my major after i declare a major. I still don’t know what I want to major in and have a set future for me, and which path I would take.
2) Networking! Networking is one of my concerns because I want to have friends and be able to communicate well throughout my years in college. They could help me in situations when I need them and have them support me. I don’t know which frats and clubs I should join because there are so many to offer.
3) My last concern about my freshmen year in Baruch College would be my grades. I’m scared to do horrible in my classes. I don’t know the expectations of my professors and how difficult the class would be.
C. There are many things that will make my Baruch College experience differ from my high school experience. I would finally enjoy the freedom in college. Back in high school, all the teachers are very uptight about everything. College is much more lenient. Another experience that would make college much different from high school is the variety of clubs and fraternities they have.
D. My first year in college would definitely change me in many ways. I think I would become much more independent and much more responsible for myself. The professors won’t baby me anymore so I have to take the initiative and make sure I’m on track of everything.
