Panel Discussion
by Marcus Cooper
the panel discussion we attended on Tuesday was very interesting to me. for one, i imagined the author, Charles Lee, to look and sound different. i imagined him, perhaps, taller and with a deeper or more commanding voice. conversely, he was rather timid and soft spoken. however, in typical college professor fashion, he could talk for days. i enjoyed hearing his commentary for the most part. i didĀ not particularly like the arrangement of the panel discussion. it appeared that there was no clear direction or order; and while all of the panelists had interesting journeys in identity and self discovery, i found myself lost in the noise of the audience and the lack of control by the given speaker. i sympathize with the studentsĀ on the lower levels that were distracted by all the noise of the students leaving for class on the upper levels. the dismissal should not have been done that way and i think this too is a product of the lack of organization. given the opportunity i would attend a similar panel discussion pending small changes in organization and procedure.
